Nirmal Ramesh Shani is a growth leader and philanthropist. Nirmal is passionate about energy and sustainability - in his most recent role at S&P Global as the Head of Asia Pacific, CERAWeek, he expanded and developed new partnerships in the region notably across Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and United Arab Emirates, to collectively elevate the voice of Asia within the global energy system towards an Equitable Energy Transition for All.
’Before joining S&P (then IHS) as its first India Country Manager in 2011, Nirmal was the youngest business head at Dun & Bradstreet leading the creation and execution of a few thousand targeted marketing campaigns and events for top brands including Fortune 100 corporations.
During his 24-year career, including a formative experience with Times of India, Nirmal launched innovative product offerings and came to be known as a ‘rain maker.’ His contributions have been widely recognised, and he often speaks at national, regional, and global conferences about leadership, sustainability and energy.
Nirmal is collaborating with diverse businesses related to the Sanskrit ‘Pancha-Bhuta’ - five essential elements - earth (Prithvi), water (Jal), fire (Agni), air (Vayu), ether (Akash). His philanthropic initiatives focus on education and health related issues in rural India.
Nirmal has been associated with Umang since 2009 and seen the Foundation growing and making a difference in lives of less-privileged sections of society. Nirmal formally joined Umang’s inaugural advisory board in 2024 to further amplify its impact for education and health related issues in rural India.
